    Let tension melt away as the warmth from the heated Hawaiian and New Zealand volcanic stones sinks into your muscles. The remarkable benefits of hot stones include alleviating joint pain, stiffness and deeply held tension.

  • Therapeutic Massage

    Feel your body move with more freedom and greater strength, countering the trauma of jet-lag and the daily stresses of life. We have a range of specially blended natural oils and waxes, thoughtfully designed for a purpose, ask for a chilli oil massage after a horse ride or lavender and lemongrass for relaxation.

  • Best Foot Forward

    A foot and lower leg massage perfect for the weary traveller to arrive in the world of comfort and luxury. Enjoy this in your own room, the Spa, or add on to another treatment.

  • Indian Head Massage

    Create a sense of harmony while relieving tension areas. Relax in your room or beside the pool for an Asian experience. This treatment focuses on the shoulders, neck and head, while comfortably supported in an ergonomic massage chair.

Face and Body Treatments

  • Relaxing Facial

    Ease away tension with a back neck and shoulder massage before a deep cleansing facial using Trilogy of Wellington products. Pressure points are relieved and your skin will feel soft and hydrated. This treatment comes complete with a hand or foot massage.

  • Body Pearl Polish (full body treatment)

    A gentle exfoliation enriched with your choice of essential oils is massaged over your body to polish away impurities soothing the skin, leaving it supple and rejuvenated and finishing with a luxurious moisturiser that will leave you radiant.

  • Mud and Honey Body Wrap (full body treatment)

    A deep cleansing and relaxing treatment that stimulates circulation and eases aches and pains, especially useful after long journeys. Using enriching mineral mud, blended with Wairarapa manuka honey to re-mineralise, draw out impurities and soften the skin. Feel complete with a pressure point facial and scalp massage.

  • Body Lovely Exfoliation and Facial

    For soft healthy skin from top to toe, this is the ultimate pampering experience. You will be massaged, cleansed and moisturised with your choice of an ocean exfoliation or pearl body polish, completed by a relaxing Trilogy facial.

  • Absolute Bliss Massage and Facial

    This treatment targets tension zones and pressure points through out the entire body. Both relaxing and stimulating, it is the perfect feel good re-charger for you to make the most of your stay.

  • Aching Body Buster

    The ultimate treatment combination! Melt as you are massaged with hot stones to sooth the soul and relieve aching muscles and joints. Then relax wrapped in a cosy cocoon of heated mud and honey whilst warm stones sooth your face. A wonderfully detoxifying and blissful experience.

Men-u: Specialised Treatment for Men

  • Ocean Exfoliation (full body treatment)

    An aromatic blend of New Zealand sea salts, mineral salts and essentials oils are vigorously massaged over your body to remove impurities, dead cells and stimulate circulation. Your body is then moisturised and left feeling smooth and vibrant on the outside, loose and relaxed on the inside.

  • Earth and Fire

    The ultimate reviver for tired and sore backs. Heat melts away tension as hot stones release deeply held knots. A salt exfoliation and thick mud pack are then applied and left, which locks in the heat to de-tox and nourish your skin while you enjoy the luxury of an Indian head and foot massage.

  • Rural Booster Facial

    Intense boost to a light facial, combating the damage of shaving and the environment, balancing the skin and neutralising impurities.

Our Products

At Wharekauhau we are in the privileged position to source the finest products from our own area. We believe that there is no substitute for quality and have developed an atmosphere and treatment range created to be suitable for both men and women. Our body range has been custom made by Sarah Beesley of the Self Heal Shop in Greytown and we have an exclusive arrangement within the luxury hotel industry with Trilogy, our facial range.

The Self Heal Shop

Sarah Beesley is a medical herbalist, the modern equivalent of the village wise woman and apothecary. Her clinic and dispensary are located in Cotter St Greytown, surrounded by an acre of lovingly tended organic herb gardens. Trained at the Waikato Centre for Herbal Medicine, she uses only the highest quality ingredients available, often the best coming from her own garden. Sarah has worked with us to create a unique range of luxurious treatment products specific to our needs such as the chilli oil, infused for months to gather its goodness and made into a massage wax; the perfect cure after horse riding or tramping.

Trilogy

Trilogy is a Wellington based company founded by two sisters with a unique belief that beauty is best achieved naturally. Their philosophy is based around a triad of simplicity, purity and vitality. Each product contains a unique blend of pure botanical extracts to restore the natural vitality and radiance of your skin by working in perfect harmony with it.

They have set out to make products that are a little bit different, that not only perform better but are better ethically, aesthetically and environmentally. Wharekauhau is proud to use products that have been inspired by the land in which we live to create products that help you make a more conscious decision about the way you care for your skin, your wellbeing and your world.

Spa Etiquette

  • We recommend that you arrive prior to your appointment time and relax by the pool so as to get the most from your treatment, arriving late will limit the time of your treatment as a courtesy to other guests we keep treatments to scheduled times.
  • You are welcome to come as you are, as the spa is in the pool complex you may want to bring your bathing suit with you, we also provide full showering facilities and robes.
  • Our massage therapists are fully trained in relaxation and therapeutic massages to ensure the quality and safety of your experience. Please advise us on any health considerations as we may have to modify your treatment or recommend another one if unsuitable.
  • All our products are powerful botanical ingredients derived from the land and sea. They were chosen for there natural goodness they are non-animal tested and are free from synthetic colours and fragrances, mineral oils and paraben preservatives.
  • To Book your treatment please ask the reception staff. It would be appreciated if you could book either the night before or as early as possible on the day.
